Artist Statement
I put all my energies to express the power of glass and the miraculous existence of human beings together. I would like to create the pieces that could capture the eternity of hot molten glass forever. Human is miraculous existence birthed from all matters and this human power has enough ability to the future. I have expressed for my pieces that I transform the power to glass.
I create my pieces to tell momentary brightness, unstableness and uncertainness of human beings through the glass. The existence of human beings might be neglected because they are instant existence in stream of whole times.
But human should be life to live in that brightness of lightning. In that moment, whoever could estimate human’s act? Anyone couldn’t that. It’s meaning of existence as human beings whatever you go anywhere or you do anything, I just put on that the existence of glass.
The material of glass is special thing for me. The glass does not have strong will like an iron and not have sentiment like a soil. It’s just the existence like a soul. I think it have connected to another world that is superior from human existence and times.
Therefore, my work is that momentary brightness of human beings add to glass first and I leave it to overwhelming uncertainness because I have faced up to glass with my respect usually and I have tried to not enter deep inside of materials.
It just steadiest moment for me that the glass has the most brilliant moment when that is glowing orange with melting. At only this we can find the power of human being’s existence that is very radical and warm moment. However, at next time the glass is cooled down and is switched to steady condition. In the colorless and transparent world it seems that there is not only humanity but also will and feeling.
I put glass to a little power when the glass is hot molten condition as orange blaze and then I would like to create my pieces such as it remains as a little fragile human power if it becomes to transform by glass power and turn to stable condition with cooling because I think it could exist forever by a little power.
My style for creating pieces has not consistency especially about shape and technique but working only facing up to glass with modesty.
I think it is worth for creating that other people are felt fragile human beauty through the glass existing in eternal stream of time.
